The college has been a campus leader in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives for more than 35 years and has made creating a culture of inclusive excellence a centerpiece of its current strategic planning process. We want to send a powerful message that everyone is welcome in the College of Sciences.

Among our goals: increasing the participation, retention and success of faculty, and staff from historically underrepresented groups. We accomplish this by building an equitable and inclusive environment, one that is free from prohibited discrimination and harassment. By building this community, we create an environment that works for everyone.

Building Future Faculty Program

NC State’s Building Future Faculty program is an all-expenses-paid workshop for doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars pursuing academic careers.

The NC State campus affiliate of NCBI provides proactive workshops to improve the overall campus climate for diversity.

Foundations of Cultural Competence

To become responsible, productive citizens, our undergraduates must understand cultures at home and afar. This course satisfies the U.S. Diversity GEP requirement.
