This page will be updated regularly with resources and ways that our community can assist with hurricane relief efforts.

Guidance for Sciences Employees in Western NC

This guidance is intended to supplement information provided by local authorities and addresses topics specific to NC State employees in Western NC impacted by Hurricane Helene.

NC State-Sponsored Relief Funds

Relief Funds for Other UNC-System Universities

To help students, faculty and staff at UNC System schools Appalachian State, Western Carolina and UNC Asheville, donations can be made to three specific emergency funds.

Volunteer to Help

Many relief organizations welcome the help of volunteers, but they are urged to not travel to impacted areas without coordinating with local and state officials. In other words, do not self-deploy.

Community Service Leave

Sciences employees interested in volunteering with Helene recovery efforts may be eligible for Community Service Leave (CSL). All CSL must be preapproved by a supervisor prior to volunteer event.
