Wellness and Mental Health Resources

Faculty and Staff Assistance Program

The NC State Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP) is an excellent resource.

  • You can call 24/7 and speak with a professional counselor to talk out a concern.
  • They will pay for 3 free sessions with a therapist and can provide referrals in your area.
  • They also have guidance resources online.
  • No one at NC State will ever know if you use FASAP, it’s independent and confidential.
  • Anyone in your household can use it, not just the employee.

Beacon Health Options – Mental Health Information

The State Health Plan offers access to Beacon Health Options, which provides information, training, webinars about mental health and links to community services.

Wellness Coaching

Employee Wellness Coaching is offered through NC State Wellness and Recreation. Group sessions are offered, and for a fee you can get individual wellness coaching.

Ombuds for Workplace Conflicts

Workplace conflict is stressful. The Faculty and Staff Ombuds office provides an independent, informal, impartial and confidential way to discuss conflicts or concerns in the workplace.

  • You can speak with the ombuds who will help you figure out how to work through problems, off the record.
  • The ombuds can help you find the university resources and contacts you need.
  • You do not have to use your NC State email address.

Groups for Women, LGBT+, People of Color

For women, LGBT+ people, and people of color, stress may be related to identity. OIED lists several  faculty and staff groups that you may wish to connect with.
