Lamb Wins NACADA Advising Award

Susan Lamb, coordinator of advising for the Life Sciences First Year (LSFY) program, has won the Region 3 Excellence in Advising (Primary Role Advising category) from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

This award recognizes individuals whose primary role at the institution is the direct delivery of advising services to students and who make significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. NACADA is a 12,000-member association of professional advisors, counselors, faculty, administrators, and students working to enhance the educational development of students.

Prior to joining the LSFY program in 2013, Lamb served in a variety of roles at NC State, including as a graduate assistant for both Fraternity and Sorority Life and New Student Orientation. She was also an academic advisor in the former First Year College and the Office of Advising Support, Information and Services.

Lamb holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lamar University in Texas and a master’s degree in counselor education, specializing in student personnel work in higher education, from NC State in 1994. Last fall, she receive a National Certificate of Merit from NACADA in recognition of her excellence in advising.
