The College of Sciences works with industry to solve the biggest societal problems and answer the toughest intellectual questions.

A Culture of Collaboration

The College of Sciences is building a culture of collaboration that fuels economic development and solves big societal problems. That means forging more research partnerships with industry, which has the added benefit of creating more jobs and internship opportunities for our students. We’ve had plenty of success stories, including SAS, the giant analytics software company that was started by NC State scientists.

The setting couldn’t be better. More than 100 startups and spinoffs have formed based on NC State research, attracting a total of $1.6 billion in venture capital. With more than 800 license agreements with industry partners, NC State is in the top 15 universities in commercialization nationally. And on our Centennial Campus,  more than 60 corporate, government and nonprofit partners work alongside more than 70 NC State research and academic units.
