The College of Sciences’ graduate programs made strong showings in the latest rankings of graduate schools in science by U.S. News & World Report.

The statistics program ranked No. 18, maintaining its spot among the top 20 programs in the country. 

The mathematics, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and biological sciences programs ranked 46th, 57th, 62nd, 73rd and 90th, respectively. Mathematics and chemistry ranked in the top 30% of programs surveyed, while physics ranked in the top one-third of programs surveyed.  

The Best Science Schools category ranks Ph.D. programs in biological sciences, biostatistics, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, mathematics, physics and statistics. Rankings are based on each institution’s average rating based on a questionnaire sent to academic officials at peer universities.
