Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine recently recognized programs in the College of Sciences on its list of “Top Producers of Minority Degrees.” On the list, published in the magazine’s July 27, 2017, issue, NC State tied for 15th in the United States for master’s degrees conferred to minority graduates in mathematics and statistics.

NC State skyrocketed up the list after not being ranked in this category last year. It had the highest ranking in mathematics and statistics of any university in North Carolina and was ahead of universities including Georgia Tech, Johns Hopkins and Cornell. NC State also made the magazine’s rankings for bachelor’s and master’s degrees awarded to minorities in engineering.
