Physics Alumna Launches Into Orbit
On March 14, NC State physics and engineering alumna and NASA astronaut Christina Koch blasted off for her first mission to the International Space Station. She got right to work, spending nearly seven hours outside the station upgrading its power storage capacity during her first spacewalk.

By the time she returns to Earth in February 2020, Koch will have surpassed the record for longest single spaceflight by a woman, spending nearly a full year in orbit.
