All work locations 100% outside of North Carolina are Remote Work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only a supervisor can request a remote work arrangement. Since these are approved by the Dean and the Provost\u2019s office, the department should upload the approval of their department head prior to routing the request.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n      <\/p>\n  <\/details>\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item\" name=\"\"  >\n      <summary class=\"accordion-item__header\">\n        <span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\">\n          <span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span>\n        <\/span>\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h6\"><strong>What is Flexible Work?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n      <\/summary>\n      <p>\n        \n\n<p>Work options, requested by the employee, involve adjustments to an employee\u2019s work schedule, hours, and\/or work location to effectively accomplish the duties and responsibilities in the employee\u2019s position.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;                                       <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The employee requests Flexible Work and must be approved by their Supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n      <\/p>\n  <\/details>\n\n\n\n<p>At NC State, multiple terms are used to describe \u201cFlexible Work Arrangements\u201d:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"is-text wp-block-ncst-accordion\" >\n    <div class=\"accordion isLinked\" id=\"ncst-accordion-dcnrgh\">\n          \n<details class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item\" name=\"dcnrgh\"  >\n      <summary class=\"accordion-item__header\">\n        <span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\">\n          <span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span>\n        <\/span>\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h6\"><strong>Alternate Work Locations<\/strong><\/h2>\n      <\/summary>\n      <p>\n        \n\n<p>An alternate work location is an adjustment to the employee\u2019s designated on-site university work location. Not all positions are suitable for an alternate work location. Some positions have job duties and responsibilities, unique functions, or schedules that do not lend themselves to remote work (e.g., front desk receptionist, building and grounds maintenance staff, service-oriented staff members, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n      <\/p>\n  <\/details>\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item\" name=\"dcnrgh\"  >\n      <summary class=\"accordion-item__header\">\n        <span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\">\n          <span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span>\n        <\/span>\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h6\">Flexible Work Hours<\/h2>\n      <\/summary>\n      <p>\n        \n\n<p>Employees may be allowed, with the manager\u2019s discretion, to shift their scheduled work hours so long as the flexible work arrangement meets operational needs and is consistent with building access and security protocols.&nbsp; Managers must ensure the unit\u2019s operational needs are covered during core work hours.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n      <\/p>\n  <\/details>\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item\" name=\"dcnrgh\"  >\n      <summary class=\"accordion-item__header\">\n        <span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\">\n          <span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span>\n        <\/span>\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h6\">Flexible Work Week<\/h2>\n      <\/summary>\n      <p>\n        \n\n<p>Employees may request, and managers may, in their discretion, approve compressed work week schedules for their employees. Compressed work week schedules allow covered employees to work 40 hours within one week by working fewer than five regular work days or 80 hours within two weeks by working fewer than ten regular work days.<\/p>\n\n\n      <\/p>\n  <\/details>\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item\" name=\"dcnrgh\"  >\n      <summary class=\"accordion-item__header\">\n        <span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\">\n          <span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span>\n        <\/span>\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h6\">Hybrid Schedule<\/h2>\n      <\/summary>\n      <p>\n        \n\n<p>Hybrid schedules include a combination of on-site and remote work&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n      <\/p>\n  <\/details>\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item\" name=\"dcnrgh\"  >\n      <summary class=\"accordion-item__header\">\n        <span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\">\n          <span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span>\n        <\/span>\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h6\">Job Sharing<\/h2>\n      <\/summary>\n      <p>\n        \n\n<p>Job sharing is a flexible work arrangement where two employees perform the work of one full-time equivalent (FTE) position. Each employee occupies the same position, reducing work hours to meet the position\u2019s FTE. For example, two part-time employees may work in the same position for 20 hours per week, each rotating their work schedules if working on-site or simultaneously if one or more is working remotely. The planned schedule for the position should not exceed 40 hours per week.<\/p>\n\n\n      <\/p>\n  <\/details>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Before moving forward with flexible work
